CHART 2021

Art fair at Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Denmark

27 - 29 August 2021

Kunstplass Contemporary Art [Oslo] is an artist-driven and experimental gallery in Oslo Art District established in 2012 by Henriette Stensdal & Vibeke Hermanrud. Thematically the exhibitions range from conceptual to political, often with a feminist and queer undertone. Through contemporary art, Kunstplass wishes to engage, challenge and surprise their audience.

For CHART 2021 Kunstplass Contemporary Art [Oslo] is proud to present the well-established artist Vanna Bowles, known for her distinct way of combining drawings with sculptures, creating a comprehensive scenography. In her work, she attempts to describe our sub-consciousness and existential facets related to identity, body and psyche. Her motifs are ambiguous and enigmatic.

The borders between nature and culture, presence and unawareness, are starting points for Vanna Bowles’ work. She tries to create ambivalent images shifting between these contradictions. Her work consists of drawings, sculptures, photography and installations. She operates a figurative and surreal idiom, often using optical effects and reliefs that destabilises the dividing line between the surface of the image and the spectators’ surrounding space.

Vanna Bowles (b. 1974, Gothenburg). Educated from Art Academy Oslo and Universität der Künste Berlin. Group exhibitions include Malmö Konstmuseum, Kunstnernes Hus and Lillehammer Kunstmuseum. Her work is represented in Equinor/Hydro, Statens Kunstråd, Malmö Konstmuseum, and more.
